Apple has officially announced the iPhone 4S. The highly anticipated smartphone comes jam packed with an all-new camera module, Apple’s dual core A5 processor, iOS 5, and a new antenna design. The iPhone 4S features an 8-megapixel digital camera with a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a larger f/2.4 aperture AutoFocus lens, an advanced hybrid IR filter, an improved white balance, face detection and 1080p Full HD video capture with audio. Apple claims that its dual-core A5 processor offers up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics. This power-efficient CPU is combined with the latest iOS 5, bringing over 200 new features to iPhone 4S. The new Apple iPhone 4S is compatible with both CDMA and GSM networks and supports download speeds of 14.4Mbps. Additional specs include Apple’s Retina display, iCloud, AirPlay, AirPrint and Siri. Apple’s new Siri is a personal assistant that is smart enough to help you get things done. You just need to ask natural language questions and Siri will deliver the most relevant answers for you. The first 7 countries (the UK, United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, France and Germany) will get the iPhone 4S on October 14th, 2011. Apple has started selling the unlocked version of iPhone 4 GSM phones in the US. Available in both black or white, the 16GB model retails for US$649, while the 32GB model is priced at US$749. The unlocked iPhone 4 arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you will need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide. [Apple]

Bharti Airtel and Aircel have confirmed that they will launch Apple’s iPhone 4 in India. Both network carriers will release this smartphone in the “coming months.” Additionally, Reliance and Tata have reportedly been negotiating to get the CDMA version of iPhone 4.
